Youth
Childcare
We have a nursery available for childcare during the 10:30 Sunday morning service.
Sunday School
Sunday School is available for children Pre-K through 6th grade. Sunday School meets every Sunday at 10:30. Often, the children begin in church with their parents and are dismissed after the Children’s Sermon. If you are interested in enrolling your child in Sunday School, please contact Janet.
Our Sunday School Groups:
- CLUB 456 grades 4-6 (meets in the Loft): You will be using a variety of lessons designed just for your age and attitudes using Faith Weavers curriculum, which teaches kids about God in a way that is designed around real world situations. Bring your Bible to church each week!
- BIBLE MAX Gr. 2-3 (library): This group of kids will meet each week for fun, exciting activities about God’s word. They will be using the Hands-On Bibles and Bible Max curriculum. The Bibles are really fun and kid-friendly. Watch out parents… this group will be digging into the Bible and they may even teach you something!
- K-1 BUZZ (Fellowship Hall): A new curriculum is here: God’s Top 10 List! It will help kids discover, explore, and experience God’s love through the framework of the 10 Commandments. Come and develop a rock-solid friendship with God!
- All Remarkable Kids, ARK! ages 3-5 (meets downstairs): This group will be using a new curriculum called Kingdom Safari, which is designed like a game with fun surprises and kid participation. It is about knowing, loving, and following Jesus! There will be activities, music, and many Bible stories for the kids to take into their daily lives.
We also have a monthly 3456 event for 3rd-6th graders. These events include a trip to Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America, a Campout Lock-In overnight, ice skating, bowling, a trip to the Water Park of America, and more!
Older Youth
Starting in 7th grade, youth are encouraged to join Confirmation which meets Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00. If you are interested in enrolling your youth in Confirmation, contact Pastor Loren or Will for more information
Starting in 9th grade through 12th grade, youth are encouraged to join Loft Talk, Good Shepherd’s weekly youth group for high schoolers. For more information about Loft Talk, please contact Will.
Along with Confirmation and Loft Talk, there are many activities for youth throughout the year. In the fall, there is a weekend retreat to Camp Koronis for both Confirmation and Loft Talk. There are also Confirmation and Loft Talk Lock-Ins throughout the year. Loft Talk has also attended Twins games and Valley Fair.
We also offer three summer trips to our older youth. Confirmation students are encouraged to attend the Junior High Summer Mission Trip. In 2008 the Junior High visited Green Bay, WI for a week long mission trip and in 2009 they visited Sault St. Marie, MI.
High Schoolers are eligible to attend the High School Summer Mission Trip. In 2008, the High Schoolers went on a mission trip to Grand Junction, CO, and in 2009 they visited Chicago.
Along with the mission trip, high schoolers are able to attend the Summer Houseboat Trip on Rainy Lake in Voyageurs National Park.
Music
We also have two musical ensembles for youth: the Junior Choir for youth 1st grade through 5th grade and the Mid Choir for youth 6th grade through 12th grade.
